Leather and Canvas Care Guide

At Adelphi, we believe in objects that endure. Each piece is crafted with intention — selected materials, disciplined construction, and a respect for form that transcends trend. With thoughtful care, your piece will age with grace, developing character while retaining its quiet strength.

Full-Grain Pebbled Leather

Pebbled leather is selected for its durability, resilience, and structured grain. As a full-grain material, it will gradually soften and develop character with use. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove surface dust. To maintain suppleness, apply a small amount of neutral, leather-specific conditioner or natural beeswax that is colourless and free from silicones or solvents. Apply sparingly and evenly, and always test on an inconspicuous area first. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, oils, perfumes, or direct heat sources.

Oil Pull-Up Leather

Oil pull-up leather is intentionally rich in natural oils, allowing the surface to shift in tone when flexed or marked. This movement is part of its character. Light scuffs and surface variations are expected and deepen over time. Minor markings may be reduced by gently rubbing with clean hands or a soft cloth to help redistribute the oils within the leather. Conditioning should be minimal and infrequent. Avoid excessive moisture and allow the leather to air dry naturally if exposed to damp conditions.

Heavyweight Canvas

Our heavyweight canvas is chosen for structure and everyday durability. Brush gently with a soft, dry brush to remove dust. Spot clean using mild soap and cold water applied sparingly with a soft cloth. Do not machine wash or soak. Allow the canvas to air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. For styles that combine canvas and leather trims, avoid saturating the leather elements and condition them separately as needed.

Beaded Styles

Hand-applied beadwork requires thoughtful handling. Avoid friction, excessive weight, and prolonged moisture exposure. Clean surrounding leather or canvas areas gently without disturbing the beadwork. Store flat where possible, or in a dust bag that prevents pressure against the embellished surface. As each beaded piece is handcrafted, slight variations in colour and pattern are natural and not considered defects.

Storage

Store your piece in a cool, dry environment away from humidity and prolonged sunlight. Use the provided dust bag when not in use. To help maintain structure, lightly fill bags with tissue or soft material. Avoid plastic coverings, which may trap moisture and affect natural materials. Never store leather in damp or enclosed environments.

Bring your Adelphi piece to our stores at Sarit Centre or Yaya Centre, where our team will assess it and recommend the most appropriate repair. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process, with most repairs completed within two to three weeks.

International Clients

Email us at info@adelphi.co.ke with clear photos of your item, the area that needs attention, and proof of purchase (where available). Our team will review your request and guide you through the best repair option based on your location and the nature of the repair.

Our Guarantee

At Adelphi, we build our products to last a lifetime. We stand behind every stitch and rivet, which is why we offer a Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee covering manufacturing faults under normal use. If your Adelphi piece experiences a failure in craftsmanship, we will repair it for you. Our guarantee specifically covers:

• Hardware & Fasteners: Replacement of broken zippers, sliders, snaps, rivets, eyelets and buckles. If a piece of hardware needs replacing, we will do our best to fit an original Adelphi component whenever it is still available. As some styles are discontinued over time, certain hardware may no longer be in production. In these cases, we will advise you on the most suitable repair options.
• Stitching & Seams: Repairing any loose threads, unravelled seams, or detached linings.
• Structural Integrity: Reinforcing handle attachments, strap points, and internal frames.

What is not covered: While we ensure our craftsmanship is permanent, materials will evolve. Natural wear, patina development, and surface variations are part of the product's unique story and are not considered defects.

• Cosmetic Changes: Natural leather patina, darkening, or minor surface scratches.
• Stains & Spills: Ink marks, water spots, or dye transfer from clothing.
• Damage caused by misuse, accidents (such as stains or pet damage), or third-party alterations is also excluded from free repair.
