Maasai Beadwork at Pocket Scale

A wallet lives in a hand, a pocket, or a bag — small, close, and picked up many times a day. The beadwork on both of our wallets is laid by Maasai beaders working from a tradition rooted in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania, using colours and patterns with meanings older than any modern maker. The panel is then set into the leather cover of the wallet by our makers in Nairobi. Every wallet carries a small, considered piece of that craft — enough to catch the eye at the till, without overpowering the leatherwork underneath. These are decorative wallets in the truest sense: leatherwork first, adornment second, and no two beaded panels quite identical.

A Kenyan Workshop, A Kenyan Craft

We have been making leather goods in Nairobi since 1988 — over thirty-five years of small-batch craft inside our own workshop. The beaded wallets in this collection bring our leatherwork together with a beading tradition long practised in the same country. We remain African-owned and African-led, with design inspired by the visual traditions of the continent we work from. Every wallet is cut, stitched, beaded, and finished by hand by our skilled artisans, and arrives with the work of every maker visible in the finish.
